When we consider what religion is for mankind, and what science is, it is no exaggeration to say that the future course of history depends upon the decision of this generation as to the relation between them.
-Alfred North Whitehead
Science and religion-The Emerging Interface
There can be no conflict between truth and truth. The popular notion that science and religion have been arch enemies does not stand the test of critical reason. A scholarly informed analysis would show that actual relationship between science and religion was distorted in the past like cartoon-like caricatures. Science and religion are substantively complementary and only deceptively contradictory. The challenge of the time is to discover the unitary conceptual grounds and frameworks of interaction between science and religion. Today we witness an emerging global momentum at the creative interface between science and religion.
The Indian context
Science and religion remain two pillars that protect and promote the canopy of Indian society as well. The future of our country depends on our ability to think scientifically and theologically, technologically and religiously, critically and worshipfully. In our contemporary context, we need to place the present- day interaction between science and religion in India on its proper and authentic platforms.
